Clear 4-cylinder view
Triplex masts over 1.8 tonnes have four lift cylinders, with no central cylinder or chains. Expensive load damage, road accidents and high level racking damage are all reduced by improved operator vision.

Strong masts
120mm rollers (100mm are more common) and rigid mast sections give precision stacking and suitability for off-centre long loads like containers. Integral sideshift is made from smaller high-strength steel to increase driver vision.

Heavy-duty steer axle
The most abused component on a lift truck is the steer axle. When travelling unladen (usually at high speed), all the counterweight is over the steer axle for more than 65% of operating time.
Strong steer axle has rubber compound mounting bushes to minimise ‘impact’ damage.
Steer cylinder rod is made from hard, high-quality steel: finely ground for a hard chrome finish to resist stone damage.
Dirt exposure, frequent washing and infrequent greasing results in king-pin failure and bearing failure: the SAMUK+HC solution is to use a low-cost king pin and large needle bearings, simple ball thrust bearing and ‘O’ rings.

Clever hydraulics
The SAE 3 pump is driven by the PTO shaft from the flywheel (like larger engines) via the hollow transmission clutch pack shaft. Costly engine camshaft and valve failures are eliminated.
Pump and hydraulic valve are situated below the driver's feet: easy access to the engine compartment for servicing.
Fluid is cleaned by a large microfilter to remove any particles - preventing plate sticking and ensuring reliable 100% inching.

Cool running
Over-heated engines cause distorted cylinder heads and head gasket damage. Over-heated transmission fluid destroys clutches and causes the plates to stick.
SAMUK+HC's easy and effective solution is to have two separate radiators: one for the engine and one for the transmission.
Heavy-duty clutch packs
The B25 heavy-duty and 3.0 - 3.5t have five fibre plate clutch packs instead of four. Longer life and better prevention of sticking hot plates.

Reliable brakes
Dirty, wet and chemical applications demand oil-immersed disc brakes with disc pack transmission. These need minimal servicing and give long, reliable life in adverse conditions.

Chromed cylinder rods & seals: virtually trouble free for a five year life.
